"Roof Cleaning will void your warranty!"
"Roof Cleaning will void your warranty!" ...or so I was told the other day.
As a professional contractor and owner of CentraFlo Pressure Cleaning, I pride myself in the fact that I am continuously learning about my industry. As a member of the UAMCC (United Association of Mobile Contract Cleaners) we are constantly reading, attending classes, taking certification tests, or sometimes even teaching our selves! That being said, we are always staying on top of the greatest and latest in the industry. One of those being roof cleaning, and the BMP, or "best method of practice".
For years and years now, roof cleaning has tried to evolve, and it has also very much stayed the same. In essence, our goal as roof cleaners, is to safely and effectively clean your roof. One of the most common misconceptions is that we are causing damage to your roof or voiding your warranty on your roof. You will even hear this from many roofing contractors!
Well I am here to tell you they are wrong! So wrong in fact that our service is not only reccomended but often requested and paid for under warranty by the manufactures of shingle and tile roofs as well as their governing associations!
Thats right, your roof (tile or shingle) comes with a warranty. And in the warranty their is a black spotting/algae growth warranty where you can make a claim and the manufacture will PAY FOR OUR SERVICE! To good to be true? HOWEVER, there a right way and a wrong way to clean a roof! Pressure Washing a roof WILL damage and potentially void your warranty. Roof cleaning MUST be done by soft wash only, no pressure! (see our next post titled "Roof Cleaning - Soft wash VS Pressure wash")
So not only does our service not void your warranty, its actually reccomened and often paid for under your warranty!!
